Suspicious circumstances in Ledford fire

A Ledford house burned under suspicious circumstances Monday afternoon.

Harrisburg firefighters responded at 1:55 p.m. and arrived at 2:02 p.m. to find a house at 2505 Ledford Road fully engulfed in flames, according to the fire report. Firefighters say fire was through the roof and coming out of windows and they could not make entry until knocking back flames from the exterior.

The house was owned and occupied by Mary Byers.

Firefighters called for mutual aid from Carrier Mills Fire Department.

When they made entry firefighters searched the house and found no one inside.

Due to the odd time of day and no apparent cause, firefighters called for the State Fire Marshal for an investigation.
