Deputies arrested Amanda Jean Davis, 28, 108 W. Sloan St., Harrisburg, 10:40 p.m. Aug. 20 on charges of illegal possession of anhydrous ammonia, drving on a suspended license and tampering with anhydrous ammonia tanks. She remains held at the Saline County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.

Deputies Jerod Campbell and Steve Sloan were parked near anhydrous ammonia tanks on Christy Road when they saw a vehicle stop on the road. The vehicle drove away and parked at the nearby Wild Things business and a person ran in the direction of the anhydrous tank farm, according to sheriff's investigator Mike Jones.
Deputies saw a man standing on a trailer wheel at the tank, approached him and identified themselves.
The man, later identified as Maurer, jumped down and ran and when deputies pursued twice the man raised the bottle of anhydrous ammonia he had procured as though to throw it at deputies, Jones said.
Finally, the man did throw it, but it did not hit the deputies. However, Maurer at some point in raising the bottle, did pour the anhydrous ammonia chemical on the back of his own neck causing a blistering burn, Jones said.
Campbell and Sloan grabbed Maurer and took him into custody. Maurer was treated at Harrisburg Medical Center and detained, Jones said.
Deputies then arrested Davis who was still parked at the nearby parking lot.
