Prep Girls Hoops: Bercats battle back to beat Wayne City for 1A crown
Elizabeth Sloan scored 13 points to lead the Galatia-Thompsonville girls basketball team to a 40-35 victory in the Wayne City Class 1A Regional Thursday night.
The regional championship is the second in a row for the Bearcats, who rallied in the second half for the win.
Galatia-Thompsonville trailed 14-7 after one quarter and went into the locker room down 20-17. The Bearcats then outscored Wayne City 9-7 in the third quarter to take a 28-27 lead and held off any run in the fourth by outscoring the opposition 16-8.
Becky Gregory netted nine points for the Bearcats, five of which came in that crucial fourth quarter. Kassidy Rizor added eight points, while Kennedy Harris and Shelby Beckman each chipped in with six.
Galatia-Thompsonville will now play in Monday's Class 1A Sectional at Gallatin County.
