Bill D. Raymer

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Bill D. Raymer of Harrisburg, 76, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at the Harrisburg Medical Center.

Bill was born on Jan. 2, 1934, in the Eagle Creek area of Saline County to Virgil and Flora Raymer. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Bob Raymer. Bill married the love of his life, Patricia (Harris) Raymer on Oct. 31, 1959 and they enjoyed close to 51 years of marriage. Their union bore "the apple of his eye," their daughter, Debbie (Raymer) Culp.

Bill attended Equality High School and served his country in the United States Air Force from Oct. 6, 1953, to July 15, 1957, and was honorably discharged as Airman Third Class, Reg. AF. Bill went into law enforcement where he served as a prison guard at Joliet's State Prison and later Menard Prison in Chester. In 1971, Bill was offered and he accepted the position as Harrisburg's Parking Control Officer where he served his town for 25 years. After retirement, Bill enjoyed meeting with his "buddies" at McDonalds. His hobbies included collecting pocket knives and antique hunting with his wife.

After a serious stroke in June of 2009, Bill gave his heart to the Lord and is a member of the First Church of God on McHaney Road. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 325, Harrisburg, and the American Legion Post 596 in Ridgway.

Bill is survived by his wife, Pat; their daughter, Debbie Culp of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma (Gerald) Glover of Equality; a special nephew, Bobby (Joy) Glover, two nieces, Joanna (Steve) Connoyor and Diana (Joe) Vogt; three aunts and lots of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; plus cousins and second cousins.

At Bill's request, he will be cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. David J. Williams will officiate, burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Masonic rites will be performed by the Harrisburg Masonic Lodge No. 325. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Harrisburg American Legion George Hart Post No. 167. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
