Obituary: Elizabeth (Lawson) Tanner

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elizabeth (Lawson) Tanner, 82, of 165 Brookstone Estates, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Lavon Henshaw, in Harrisburg.

She was born in Mt. Sterling, Ky., on Dec. 16, 1928, to the late John and Molly (Gabbard) Lawson. She was the widow of Buell A. Tanner, who preceded her in death in 1980.

Elizabeth was a member or Star General Baptist Church, had served as head cook at Galatia High School, a member of the Eldorado Golden Circle and Project Bounce and a volunteer for the ladies auxiliary at Ferrell Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Hal Tanner of Charleston, S.C.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda (Tanner) Laskowitz and husband Steve of Evansville, Ind., Lavon (Tanner) Henshaw and husband Mike of Harrisburg and Gena (Tanner) Rocco and husband Nick of Denham Springs, La.; one brother, Bill Lawson of California; two sisters, Francis Zelany of Michigan and Juanita Holland of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Joe Phillips, Tina Foote, Matt Sandifer, Josh Tanner, Chad Sandifer, Angela Smith, Brianna Bozarth, Todd Stevens and Elizabeth Rocco; and seven great-grandchildren, Darrick Sandifer, Courtney Shaw, Sidney Tanner, Mattix Sandifer, Cole Sandifer, Caiden Sandifer and Camerson Smith.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Phillips; and a daughter, Carol (Phillips) Bozarth.

Services for Elizabeth Tanner will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the service time. The Rev. Roy Hughes will officiate and the burial will be private.

The family of Elizabeth Tanner will receive friends at the home of Mike and Lavon Henshaw, 322 W. Poplar St., Harrisburg, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
