Ray Gillihan
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ray Gillihan, 71, of Eldorado and formerly of Carmi, passed away 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at his residence in Eldorado.
He was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Carmi, the son of Jacob "Jake" and Ethel Marie "Frymire" Gillihan. He worked for Babcock and Wilcox, Renshaw Implement, in the parts department at Rural King and was a private pilot.
Surviving are his companion, Jeanna Canimore of Eldorado; one son and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Thia Gillihan of San Diego, Calif.; one stepson, Charles Canimore of Harrisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Bruce Meriwether of Carmi; one stepdaughter, Kelly Canimore of Eldorado; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and John Henry Fechter of Carmi; two grandchildren, Amanda Gillihan and Donna Mendez; and three step-grandchildren, William and Garrett Canimore and Jessica Rigsby. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside funeral and burial services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Seals Chapel Cemetery near Carmi with Brother Tim Collins officiating. Casket bearers were Charles Canimore, Tim Collins, Jon Mudd, Steve Mudd, Chase Sailer and Jack Sailer. Military Rites were performed by the Carmi VFW and American Legion. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made in Ray Gillihan's name to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
