Orville D. Baney

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Orville D. Baney, 83, of Harrisburg, formerly of Rockford, died early Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Keith Moore of New Haven.

He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Alicia, Ark., the son of Charles and Viola Baney. He married Wanda L. Spradlin on Sept. 27, 1946, in Marked Tree, Ark., and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2006.

He had served in the Army during World War II. Orville had worked for many years at Rockford Drop Forge in Rockford. He then operated his own roofing business. He loved to coon hunt, fish, and play and sing music. He was a member of the Land Street Church of God in Harrisburg.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Maxine Baney of Winnebago and Gary and Debbie Baney of Harrisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Bill Blocker of Harrisburg, and Debbie and Keith Moore of New Haven; one sister, Arlene Blinks of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda; two grandsons; 10 brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, in the Land Street Church of God in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service in the church. Burial will take place in Sunset Cemetery in Harrisburg. Military burial rites will be provided by the Harrisburg American Legion. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi.
