Workshop on invasive species planned

Learn about invasive plant species ecology, identification and control at a free workshop Feb. 21 at the Dixon Springs Agricultural Center.

The workshop is to benefit private landowners wanting more information about invasive species and volunteers seeking to join the Forest Restoration Support Team and needing to fulfill the initial training requirements of the program, according to a release from the River to River Cooperative Weed Management Area. FRST volunteers need pesticide applicators license to apply herbicide on Southern Illinois Prescribed Burn Association properties.

The workshop is provided by the River to River Cooperative Weed Management Area, the Southern Illinois Prescribed Burn Association, the University of Illinois Extension, and the Illinois Forestry Association.
