James G. Dutton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James G. Dutton, 60, passed away peacefully at 9:45 a.m. June 3, 2010, at Saline Care Nursing Home in Harrisburg from a long-term illness with his two daughters by his side.
He was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Harrisburg, the son of Goble and Juanita (Winters) Dutton.
James is survived by his two daughters, Stephany (Shannon) Moss of Harrisburg and Tephany Dutton of Morris; three grandchildren, James "Kizer" Moss and Melea Moss of Harrisburg and Brady James Babington of Morris; three sisters, Violet ("Dub") Dallas of Mt. Carmel, Aline Oglesby of Vincennes, Ind.. and Shirley Price of Plant City, Fla.; and two brothers, Bill (Rita) Dutton of Marion and Larry (Lynn) Dutton of Hagerstown, Md.
He was preceded in death by Cynthia Dutton; his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Don Price and Warren Oglesby.
James gladly served his country from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. He then went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Southern Illinois University. He would use this degree to own and operate his own farm and spend his days on the farm, doing what he loved. Prior to his illness he had gone into feed sales and enjoyed traveling and visiting with the farmers. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed umpiring and refereeing. His daily attire always included wearing his boots.
Per James' wishes, his body was donated to the SIU School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Little Chapel Church, state Route 34, Harrisburg, with the service beginning at 5:30 with military rites to follow.
