Vivert J. Adkisson
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vivert J. Adkisson, 77, of Galatia, passed away at 3 p.m. Thursday May 27, 2010, at his residence.
He was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 6, 1932, to Ira C. and Madge (Williams) Adkisson. Vivert graduated Galatia High School in 1949 and went on to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he got his bachelor of science degree. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Vivert taught school at the Carrier Mills Elementary School where he retired. He enjoyed working with horses and being a trader.
He is survived by his cousins, James L. Williams of Bloomington, Donna Williams Brown of Galatia, James Earl Adkisson of Galatia, Sylvia Adkisson Hawkins of Elgin and Lola Adkisson Fowler of Marion.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday June 2, 2010, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation 9 a.m. to funeral hour at the funeral home. The Rev. Bob Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery north of Galatia with graveside military rites by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legions.
