Troy Bryant Sr.

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Troy Bryant Sr., 83, of Harrisburg, passed away 6 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Troy was born Aug. 26, 1926, at Norris City, the son of Wilburn Robert and Flora Ella Garrett Bryant. On April 12, 1952, he married Almedia Karnes at Harrisburg. Troy first joined the Navy and fought in World War II and later joined the Army and fought in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the City of Harrisburg Public Property where he worked at the cemetery. He also worked at the cap factory and as a coal miner.

Troy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Almedia; two sons, Orval Douglas Bryant, Albion and Troy Dewayne "Petey" Bryant Jr. of Harrisburg; four daughters, Judith Ann Myers of Harrisburg, Gloria Darlene Fredman of Harrisburg, Rachel Joyce Hunt of Vienna and Ella May Young of Eldorado; one brother, Rolla James Bryant of Ocala, Fla.; two half-brothers, Billy May of Middleton, Wis., and Carl May of Texas; 18 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vera Plaisance; two brothers, Dennis Robert Bryant and Lowell Dean Bryant; and four sisters, Barbara Sue Reynolds, Bonnie Marie Alexander, Linda Irene Stucker and Martha Ann Bradley.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. G. E. Coultas officiating and burial at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
