George Givens
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[George Givens, 77, 426 East End St., Carrier Mills, died 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Ownly Williams officiating and military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the National Guard Honors Team. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at Felty Funeral Home, Carrier Mills.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1933, in Harrisburg to the late William and Easter Ann (Walker) Givens.
He was a member of Harvest Deliverance Center in Harrisburg. He was retired from the military where he served in the Army during the Korean War. He was the first black Ranger being awarded at Fort Benning, Ga.
He is survived by two brothers, David Givens and Robert Neal, both of Harrisburg; five sisters, Sandra Sanders, Euralene Sanders and Roxie Williams, all of Carrier Mills, Patricia Cole of California and Ethelene Taylor of Evansville, Ind.; nine children; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, two brothers and five sisters.
