William Jeffery Springer Sr.

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. William Jeffery Springer Sr., 79, of Raleigh, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at his residence.

He was the husband of Carla (Snedecor) Springer, who survives. They were married May 24, 1977.

William was born in Millheim, Pa., on July 17, 1930, the son of the late Simon and Ruth (McCool) Springer.

He served in the U.S. Army as a private in World War II and the Korean War, where he was a Purple Heart recipient.

He worked as a supply clerk for B&W prior to retirement.

He was a member of the Eldorado VFW and served as a past president of the Eagles Club.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by four daughters, Ruth (Chuck) Wright of West Frankfort, Nancy (Flynn) Carey of Marion, Sharmin (Harley) Partridge of Eldorado and Brandy (David) McClelland of Mount Carmel, two sons, William J. (Jan) Springer of Equality and Joel (Gail) White of Owensboro, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Katheline "Kappy" Wert of Rebersburg, Pa.; and a brother, Lt. Gen. Robert (Bonnie) Springer of Pinehurst, N.C.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, with Barry Steed officiating. Burial will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery with military rites. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home.
