Obituary: Olive Irene Gaul
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Olive Irene Gaul passed away in the early hours of Dec. 14, 2011, in Lincoln, Neb.
Olive was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Brushy Township to the late Fred and Pearl (Murphy) Nolen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Joseph G. Gaul; her "little bother" Fred Nolen; and sister-in-law Gwen Nolen.
She is survived by daughter, Kate Gaul of Lincoln, Neb.; son, Joseph Nolen Gaul and his partner, Doug Searson of Sausalito, Calif.; niece, Cindi Allen of Port Orchard, Wash.; and nephew, Scott Nolen of St. Louis, Mo. Olive also leaves close family friend, Nancy Petta of Lincoln, Neb.
Olive approached life with a playfulness that endeared her to family and friends. Always the willing hostess for visitors to her home, she accepted everyone with a welcoming and kind graciousness.
A lifelong Methodist, Olive taught Sunday school as a young bride….fondly reminiscing about the old Wesley Center in later years.
Her life carried her to Washington D.C. to work in the fledgling Social Security Administration; later as secretary to a psychiatrist ("Those people are a little crazy") ; many travels to exotic destinations with her husband; a warm sojourn with retirement in Florida and finally to Nebraska.
In lieu of donations, or flowers…it would be Olive's wish that people who knew her or happen to read this obituary, take a positive precious moment to reflect on their own lives and search out the good in all of us.
The visitation at Reed Funeral Chapel will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2011. Burial the following day will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, beside her husband, parents and family.
