Melva Awalt

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Melva Awalt, 92, of Kennesaw, Ga., formerly of Ridgway, passed away in Kennesaw at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010.

She was born on April 21, 1917, in Clay to Ernest Everett and Lydia (Oxnam) Dean. Melva married Dale Awalt on Nov. 8, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky. Dale preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1992.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Ridgway.

Melva is survived by three daughters, Glenda Moye of Carbondale, Debra Ann and Walt Griffith of Kennesaw, Ga. and Betty Jean and Lindell Martin of Mattoon; one son, Michael L. and Cindy Awalt of Carmi; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband; one sister, Olive Turner; and one brother, George Dean.

Visitation for Melva will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. The Rev.
