OBITUARY: John Dale Shroyer

John Dale Shroyer, 63 of Pekin, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in Peoria at the Kindred Hospital.

John was born on Dec. 20, 1951, to the late Ralph and Norma Lee (Littlefield) Shroyer. John married Nola Kay (Murrow) Shroyer on Dec. 18, 1970, and they have been married for 44 years and she survives in Pekin. Together they have three children: James (Debbie) Shroyer of Eldorado, Mike (Connie) Shroyer of Pekin and Dena Shroyer (Larry Johnson) of Pekin. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Heather Morris, Erin Morris, Natosha Johnson, James Shroyer, Christa (Cory) Brown and Madison Johnson.

Also surviving is one brother Kevin (Vicky) Shroyer fo Doniphan, Mo.; and four sisters, Donna (John) Murray of Fisk, Mo., Kim (Wayne) Brasser of Oxly, Mo., Janice Zapata of Pekin and Jill Harmon of Oxly, Mo.; one brother-in-law, David Barker of Manito; and several nieces and nephews.

John retired from Caterpillar in 2010 after serving 37 years. He was a proud member of UAW Local 974. He enjoyed fishing, his dogs and was an avid Cardinals fan.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Gholson Cemetery near Broughton. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2015.
