Sylvester Keith Bush

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sylvester Keith Bush, 70, of Galatia, passed away at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at his residence.

He was born in Galatia on Nov. 3, 1939, to Daniel (Dan) and Edna (Wallace) Bush. Sylvester married Linda (Phillips) Bush on June 4, 1966.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of United Mine Workers of America, past member of the Odd fellows in Galatia and also a member of the Providence Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Carrier Mills where he was an elder.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Angel (Kenny) Milligan, Suzanne (Mathew) Mitchell and Brian Bush, all of Galatia; a sister, Gloria (Bill) Etienne of Galatia; a sister-in-law, Sandra Brooks of Galatia; brother-in-law, Bobby (Mary) Phillips; grandchildren, Stephen, Haley and Daniel Milligan, Allison and Kaitlyn Mitchell; uncle, Bob and Shirley Wallace of Galatia; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded by parents; a sister, Carroll Phelps; mother and father-in-law Robert and Levia Phillips; brothers-in-law, Claude Alvin Phelps, Dick Brooks and Dean Peyton; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Phillips.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Feb. 12, 2010, at the funeral home. Officiating are the Rev. Kevin Peyton and the Rev. Shannon Goolsby, with burial in the Webber Campground Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and to Providence Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
