Wanda L. (Guye) Irvin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Wanda L. (Guye) Irvin, 84, Galatia, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

She was born June 28, 1925, in Williamson County, the daughter of Ralph and Eunial (Fletcher) Guye. On March 14, 1945, she married Philip Irvin, who preceded her in death in September 1996.

Wanda, along with her husband, owned and operated Irvin's Restaurant in Galatia for 15 years. Many people that knew her will remember her chicken and dumplings, pies and sweet smile for everyone.

She was a longtime member of Galatia First Baptist Church and also served on the Galatia Library board of trustees. She was also a 4-H leader and Sunday School teacher in her earlier days.

In her retirement days, Wanda enjoyed flower gardening, traveling across the country with her husband, and in 1998, she visited Paris, France, with her son and daughter.

Survivors include her six children, David Irvin and Carlos Rodriguez of Chicago, Diane Clarida of Galatia, Denny (Luann) Irvin of Broughton, Mike (Marlene) Irvin of Galatia, Debbie (Steve) Evans of Galatia and Becky (Paul) Butler of Galatia; grandchildren, Denise (Patrick) Bond, Bryan Irvin, Jennifer Trussell, Bobbie Choisser, Jessica (Chad) Martell, Jeremy (Gidget) Irvin, Justin (Becky) Irvin, P.J. (Andrea) Irvin, Josh (Nicole) Evans, Mandie (Sean) Chester, Anna Evans, Forrest (Mindy) Long, Nicole (J.B.) Slivinski and Chris and Tyler Butler. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Dean (Joyce) Guye; a sister-in-law, Iva Guye; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Lee and Fletcher Guye; one sister-in-law, Maryema Guye; and a grandson, Matthew Irvin.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with funeral services 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at the funeral home with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
