Larry Riegel

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Larry Riegel, 62, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Larry was born on Jan. 11, 1947, in Harrisburg to Mildred and Regnald Riegel. He was welcomed into this world by his older sister, Linda; grandparents, Leonard and Carrie Riegel and Lloyd and Bertha Reynolds; and seven great-grandparents.

The majority of Larry's professional career was in banking. He began his banking career at the First National Bank in Harrisburg. Other banking positions he held included vice president of the Bank of Marion, president of Galatia Community Bank and president of Benton Community Bank. Outside of banking, Larry was vice president of DHR Trucking and worked as an independent agent for Country Companies Insurance.

Larry was a member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church, Elks and Second Team, and past member of the Jaycees, and Kiwanis. He was an avid sports enthusiast, loved all sports, and believed in fair play. Throughout his life, he participated in many sports and became an accomplished pool player. He belonged to several different pool leagues and competed individually and on leagues at the local, state and national levels.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Linda (husband Fred) Winders of Harrisburg and Regina (husband Bill) Demeter of Crown Point, Ind.; nieces, Nicole (Winders) Lyerla of Evansville, Ind., Heather (Demeter) (husband Rich) Carter of Duluth, Minn. and Carli Demeter of Crown Point, Ind.; nephew, Mitchell Demeter of Crown Point, Ind.; great-nephews, Paul Lyerla of Evansville, Ind. and Kurt and Kyle Carter of Duluth, Minn.; stepchildren, Krista (Carter) (husband Josh) Banks of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Amy (Carter) (husband Ryan) Waite of Fort Smith, Ark. and Brandon (wife Stacie) Carter of Seymour, Ind.; and stepgrandchildren Bailee, Conr and Samantha.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday June 19, 2009, at Dorrisville Baptist Church. The Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday, June 19 at Dorrisville Baptist Church.
