Omer Nicholson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. Omer Nicholson, 98, Saraville Road, Creal Springs, died 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1911, in Williamson County, son of the late Frank Nicholson and Susie (Burns) Nicholson. He married the former Lorene Wall on Dec. 23, 1930, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1999.

He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Operating Engineers Local 318 and was a retired farmer, coal miner and construction worker.

Survivors include a son, Everett Dean (Louise) Nicholson of New Burnside; a daughter, Dimple Boner of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Vicky Nicholson of Harrisburg, Kim (David) Tate of Harrisburg, Kay (Troy) Brown of Ridgway, Kevin (Mary) Boner of San Diego, Calif., Jeff Boner of Phoenix, Ariz. and Greg Boner of Phoenix, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren, Jessica (Tyrone) Wood, Jordan Rister, Kelly Tate, Adam Tate and Kalyn Tate; and a great-great-granddaughter, Savannah Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four sisters; four brothers; and his son-in-law, Kenneth Boner.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Edward "Shorty" Alsip and the Rev. Larry Adams will officiate.

Burial will be in the Simmons Cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the funeral home.

The preferred choice of remembrance in lieu of flowers would be memorials to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church or to the Simmons Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
