Alma Jean Bishop
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Alma Jean Bishop, 73, Benton, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Westside Rehab and Care Center of West Frankfort.
Alma was born on May 26, 1936, in Saline County to Almie and Josephine (Farmer) Cook. She married Vollie "Jr." Bishop in 1954, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2001. She was a retired licensed practical nurse. She was a member of the Sloan Street General Baptist Church.
Alma is survived by her mother, Josephine Cook of Harrisburg; son, Jeff Bishop and wife Mary Ann of Cave-In-Rock; daughter, Mary Jo Bishop of Haubstadt, Ind.; three grandchildren, Julie Bishop of Harrisburg, Brian Bishop and wife Kelly of Benton and Cammi Moberly of Chandler, Ind.; four great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Mary Lou Cox and husband Frank of Harrisburg.
Alma was preceded in death by her father, Almie Cook; and husband, Vollie "Jr." Bishop.
Private funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Lewis officiated. Burial followed in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
