Ruby J. Rice

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ruby J. Rice, 86, Carrier Mills, died 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Jeff Owens officiating. Burial will be in Garris Chapel Cemetery near Stonefort. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Saturday.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1923, in Stonefort to the late Thomas and Minnie (Murrow) Shadowens. On Dec. 24, 1941, she married James R. Rice, who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1991.

She was a member of the Stonefort General Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy (David) Headrick of Carrier Mills; two grandchildren, Kellie and Cheryl Headrick, both of Carrier Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Gilbert, Thomas, James, John and Hobert Shadowens; and five sisters, Lucille Reynolds, Mary Evans, Hazel Black, Opal Shadowens and Anna Mae Shadowens.
