James Coy 'Shorty' Swansey

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James Coy "Shorty" Swansey died 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was a native of Harrisburg and of the Baptist faith. He was retired from the construction industry and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 181 and the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Sue Swansey; two daughters, Diane Reeder and husband Dennis of Paducah, Ky. and Janette Edwards and husband Barry of Kevil, Ky.; one son, Andy Joe Swansey and wife Lou Anne of Central City, Ky.; six grandchildren, Chad Barrett and wife Lori, Misty Barrett and fiancee Bill Sanders, Meena Wood and husband Danny, Jimmy Swansey and wife Kami, Tabitha Barnes and Jessy King; and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Mildred Wenzel Swansey. His parents were Andrew and Charity Belle Reynolds Swansey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, Ky., with the Rev. Robert Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Cemetery in Illinois. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
