James (Jim) H. Richey
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James (Jim) H. Richey passed from this earth Thursday morning, Dec. 24, 2009, at his farm home near Galatia. He was 78 years of age, entering this life Jan. 28, 1931, at Carrier Mills, Saline County, being the son of J. Horace Richey and Flossie (Arnold) Richey.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife of more than 61 years, Rosemary (Triplett) Richey, and children Jan (Richey) Foster and husband Alan Foster and James R. (Jimmy) Richey and wife Amy; grandchildren Michelle (Foster) Brown and husband Ed, James (Jimmy Joe) Foster and Jessica and Kayla Richey; great-granddaughter Haylee Brown; sisters Rita (Richey) Eatherly and husband James and Millie (Richey) Bond and husband Kenny; brothers Charles (Chuck) Richey and wife Joy and Willard (Bill) Richey and wife Jane; nephews Patrick Bond, Dr. Wade Richey, Benjamin Richey and Daniel Richey; nieces Deborah (Eatherly) Porter, April (Eatherly) Rubio, Vallori (Richey) Stout, Katherine (Kate) Richey, Rachel Richey and Melody (Bond) Johnston; great-nephews Luke Richey, Mark Richey, Josh Stout, Eli Bond, James Porter, Richey Rubio, Patrick Rubio, Liam Bond Johnston and Jack Johnston; great-nieces Natalie Ferreri, Mary (Porter) Green, Olivia Stout, Mary Richey and Daisy Bond.
Jim was a descendant of the founders of Gallatin, Saline and Williamson counties, living most of his life on the family farm in Saline County. He lived his very young life in Williamson County. Jim never found time to retire and was a farmer and an agent for Pioneer Seed Corn until his moment of passing.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and traveling. He was known for his love of books, being an avid speed reader, and for his collection of vintage cars.
He most enjoyed his time with grandchildren and they will long remember their Grandpa "Doe Doe."
He was a member of the Galatia Methodist Church, a Shriner in the Galatia Masonic Lodge, a member of the Galatia Lions Club and a former member of the Saline County Board.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the funeral home.
Dr. Harrison Peyton will officiate with burial in the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Harco.
Masonic Rites will be conducted 7 p.m. today by the Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684.
Memorials may be made to the Flossie, Arnold and Richey Scholarship Fund for the Galatia High School and may be left at the funeral home.
