James Carl Porter

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. James Carl Porter, 88, of Harrisburg, formerly of Galatia, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

He was the husband of Elsie E. (Kuppart) Porter. They were married in 1955.

James was born in Rector Township on August 5, 1921, the son of the late Denzel and Mary Lela (Hardesty) Porter.

He worked as a farmer prior to retirement.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, James is survived by a daughter, Lisa Force of Worden; two sons, Chris Porter of Harrisburg and David Lee (Cherry) Porter of Westland, Mich.; grandchildren, Aaron Force of Wood River, Jason Force of Missouri, Ryan Pelhank of Missouri, Jonathan Pelhank of Missouri and Victoria Pelhank of Missouri; and two great-grandchildren, Brennan Pelhank and Jaxon Pelhank.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Pelhank; and a brother, Charles Porter.

Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, with his nephew John Kuppart officiating. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery north of Eldorado. Visitation is noon to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
