Denver Blackman

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Denver Blackman, 91, of 329 Miller St., Carrier Mills, died 9:33 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. There will be no visitation; all friends should go directly to the cemetery. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1917, in Stonefort to the late Charlie and Rilla (Stone) Blackman. He was married to Eva Reynolds on Nov. 20, 1936, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 1994.

He was a farmer and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by eight daughters, Mary Pankey, Mildred Cummins, Deanna Shewmaker, Connie Owens and Patsy Stacey, all of Harrisburg, Betty Bennett and Sybil Schutt of Carrier Mills and Mable Gullett of Equality; three sons, Bob Blackman of Stonefort and Terry Blackman and Jeff Blackman, both of Harrisburg; four sisters, Kathleen Hoffman, Maxine Phelps, Margaret Williams and Magaline McMillian; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Bill Blackman; four brothers, Charles Blackman, Ishmel Blackman, Eugene Blackman and Cletis Blackman; a granddaughter, Tammy Johnson; and a grandson-in-law, Steve Johnson.
