James E. Rash

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James E. Rash, 72, longtime resident of Shawneetown, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg after an extended illness.

James was born in Hardin County on July 1, 1936, to the late Hazel and Arzona (Ledbetter) Rash.

James was a retired coal miner but always has stayed active running the Dairy Bar in Shawneetown along with a concession stand at all of the local festivals. He loved NASCAR racing and the outdoors. He loved to visit with friends and family.

James was a retired member of 40 years of the Shawneetown Fire Department. James was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown. He was a good man, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed in the community.

James is survived by a son, Donald (Kara) Rash of Ozark; two daughters, Carolyn (Darrell) Osman of Harrisburg and Kim (Charles) Oldham of Shawneetown; four brothers, Bobby (Dianne) Rash of Sturgis, Ky., Benny (Margaret) Rash of Shawneetown, Jerry (Phyllis) Rash of Indianapolis, Ind. and Billy (Kim) Rash of Sturgis, Ky.; two sisters, Myrna (Lee) Smith of Las Vegas, Nev. and Darlene (Jim) Warner of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation for James will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. Funeral services for James will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown where he will lie in state after 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Hall officiating. Interment will be at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
