</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Helen Louise Smith, 77, 2212 W. Poplar St., Harrisburg, died 6:30 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. James E. Williams Jr. officiating. As per her wishes, Mrs. Smith will be cremated with a burial at a later date. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born June 29, 1931, in Harrisburg to Arthur Leslie and Evelie (Morris) Owen. She was married to Charles N. Smith from 1966 to 1976.
She was Baptist and a retired housekeeper at Harrisburg Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was an avid ceramic pig collector and enjoyed her time working at HMC for 11 years.
She is survived by a son, Denzil L. "Denny" and Ann Owen of Harrisburg; a loving grandson, Steven Allen Owen and fiancee, Tammy Tittle; the light of her life, two precious grandchildren, Laney Marie and Walker Ty Allen; a very loving sister, Shirley Marie Denton; a very loving niece (like a daughter), Debbie Pankey; several nephews and nieces, Leslie and Teddy Ray Denton, Ron Owen, Jeff Ward and Stephanie Willis; a sister-in-law, Eunice Owen; and several aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Allen Ray Owen; two sisters, Nina Rose McGhee and Zela Ann Owen; two brothers, Leslie Arthur Owen and Donald Ray Owen; and a nephew, Michael Lee (Hagger) Denton.
