Roland Allen

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Roland Allen, 57, of 8555 Smokey Road, Shawneetown, passed away at his home at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009.

He was born Sept. 23, 1951, in Harlan, Ky., to Frank and Maxine (Harris) Allen. Roland married Deborah Bradley on Nov. 15, 1969.

He was a coal miner.

Roland is survived by his wife, Deborah Allen; his daughter, Deitra Allen of Shawneetown; two sons, Brad Allen of Shawneetown and Tim and Jennifer Allen of Ridgway; three sisters, Tammy and Roger Joyner of Shawneetown, Brenda Allen and Judy Allen, both of Central City, Ky.; brother, Arnold and Diane Allen of Shawneetown; three grandchildren, Tarryn, Hunter and Jillian Allen; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Becky, Danny, Darrin and Dustin Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Allen Jr.; sisters, Marilyn Wenzel and Carolyn Allen; and nephew, Blake Wenzel.

Memorial service for Roland will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Round Pond near Shawneetown. Family and friends will be leaving Vickery Funeral Chapel at Shawneetown at 12:30 p.m. to go to the memorial service location at Round Pond. The Rev. Ron Johnson will be officiating the service.
