Raymond 'Ray' Davis

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Raymond "Ray" W. Davis, 85, of Marion, passed away 7:35 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1924, in Saline County to William and Oleta Pearl (Goad) Davis. On March 31, 1946, he married Janet L. (Schiller) Davis in St Louis, Mo., and she preceded him Sept. 8, 2004. He then married Helen Deloris (Vanseghi) Carr Davison on Feb. 10, 2007, in Carterville.

Ray worked for the U.S Dept. of Labor in Tallahassee, Fla., as Florida state director of the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. He was also a World War II Army Air Force Veteran from February 1943 to January 1946 as a sergeant. Ray was a life member of the Elks in Tallahassee, Fla.

He is survived by a son, Donald R. (Janice) Davis of Laverne, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Sara Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a grandson, Russell W. (Robin) Davis of Melbourne, Fla.

He was preceded by his parents; first wife, Janet; a son, Randy W. Davis; four sisters, Sara Willis, Alice Marion, Mildred Renwick and Barbara Lee; and a brother, Duane Allen Davis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Ingram Hill Baptist Church with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday April 10, 2009, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. The Rev. Bob Nolen will officiate and burial will be in the Ingram Hill Cemetery.
