Opal (Hale) Hickman
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mrs. Opal Hale Hickman, 94, of Raleigh, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2009, at her residence.
She was the widow of Paul Hickman and Kenneth Hale.
Opal was born in Eldorado on July 2, 1914, the daughter of the late Elmer and Flora (Morman) Ewan.
She was a member of Raleigh First Baptist Church.
She was employed as a sales clerk for Sears in Sterling before retirement.
Opal is survived by a daughter, Connie (Richard) Beelendorf of West End, N.C.; a son, Jack (Linda) Hale of Ogden, Utah, and a stepdaughter, Paula (Tom) Borgra of Christopher.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Opal is also survived by her four dedicated caregivers, Ila Kutemeier, Chris Johnson, Jackie Mace and Barbara Rae.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Kosowski; two brothers, Owen Ewan and Wilburn Ewan; and one sister, Thelma Fato.
Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, with the Rev. David W. Pinkerton officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery.
