Donald E. Woolard

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Donald E. Woolard, 68, of Christopher, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at his home.

Donald was born on Aug. 4, 1940, in Galatia, a son of Len and Helen (Harper) Woolard. He was a graduate of Galatia High School Class of 1958. Donald was retired from the coal mining industry where he worked as a mine manager. He enjoyed bird hunting, baseball, coaching softball and keeping his lawn manicured. Donald also liked to cook and was a former owner and operator of Bruno's Restaurant in Sesser.

Donald is survived by his wife, Pam Woolard, Christopher; daughters Donna West, Harrisburg, Sherry Milligan and husband Scott, Harrisburg and Kara Minor, Valier; brothers Jim Woolard and wife Mary Jean, Harrisburg and Harold Woolard and wife Dorothy, Carterville; grandchildren Justin Milligan, Katie, Wash., Alicia Milligan, Harrisburg, Kain West, Harrisburg, Taylor Woolard, Valier and Trajen Minor, Valier; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Milligan and Jailynn Booth.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Len and Helen; one sister, Barbara Jean; and his daughter, Gerry Lynn.

A graveside service for Donald will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Sunset Gardens in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne E. Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Davis Funeral Chapel, state Route 148 and Park Street Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois in Donald's memory with envelopes being available at the chapel.
