Pregnant woman killed in Kingston accident

A pregnant Brockton woman died early today after a single car crash on Main Street.

Nadine Solide, 29, was pronounced dead at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth following the 5:30 a.m. crash. Her baby also died, police said.

The driver, Nusquine M. Cartus, 30, also of Brockton, was treated at the hospital and released, according to John Looney, a hospital spokesman.

While saying the crash remains under investigation, Police Lt. Maurice Splaine said he expects charges will be filed against the driver.

The women were going north near Route 106, when their 1996 Nissan Maxima struck a utility pole head-on. The impact snapped the pole in half.

A local woman who arrived at the scene soon after the crash said Solide was unconscious in the car. The driver had gotten out out of the car on her own and was walking around with blood on one hand.

Splaine said the investigation was slowed because of a language barrier.

The woman's husband was on a flight to Florida and was told of the accident when he landed, Splaine said.
