Illini notebook: Weber thinks NCAA tourney field could grow

The NCAA tournament bubble is getting bigger and bigger each year. With more parity in college basketball, more teams want to stake a claim to an NCAA tournament bid. Of course, Illinois' only hope for an NCAA berth is a miracle run in the Big Ten tournament, but Illini coach Bruce Weber predicted there will be more lobbying from college coaches for expansion to the 65-team NCAA bracket after March Madness.

The NCAA tournament field will likely grow by three teams in the near future, Weber said, although the National Association of Basketball Coaches would like a bigger bump.
