LOCAL GRANTS: The Illinois House today will hold a "committee of the whole" - an unusual maneuver in which the entire House is transformed into one huge committee - to debate the governor's veto of more than $460 million in spending he called "pork" and "non-essestial." This includes several local projects. (The hearing begins at noon and is expected to run for six hours.) On Tuesday, the House is widely expected to vote to override, then the Senate must decide what to do. I'll use this opportunity to introduce the fall session and point readers to potential local consequences. Ready at 6 p.m. Rockford / Illinois and Illinois News
