Cubs notebook: Monroe ready to contribute

Heading into Wednesday night's action, Craig Monroe hadn't provided the spark the Cubs were looking for when they acquired him Aug. 23 in a trade with Detroit.

Monroe was hitting .200 (4-for-20) without a home run or RBI.
