BMW notebook: Playoff format still a hot topic
The dispute between the PGA Tour's top players and its top executive shows no sign of dissipating. Tiger Woods and Ernie Els both fired verbal shots at the tour's playoff concept, with Els saying the players and the commissioner's office "have grown apart a little bit."
Woods, who has won three Western Opens on Cog Hill's Dubsdread layout, plus two PGA Championships at Medinah, said - and not for the first time - that it didn't make sense to skip Chicago, as the PGA Tour will do when the Western (now titled the BMW Championship) will be played near St. Louis next year.
