Astros' Torrence ready to turn focus to Ohio St.
Through the heat and the diesel fumes, the long bus rides and the empty stands, Devon Torrence made his way to Ohio State. He arrived after a month of minor league baseball, a fat six-figure signing bonus and a head spinning on his shoulders.
Torrence was drafted by the Houston Astros, and, after a tricky negotiation, worked himself a deal that allows him to play baseball in the summer and return to the Buckeye football team August. It is the best of both worlds for the 18-year-old Canton South High School graduate.
