Indians notebook: It's official -- Barfield no longer a starter

What appeared to be a temporary move Wednesday became permanent two days later.

Cleveland Manager Eric Wedge said before Friday's game at Tampa Bay that Josh Barfield is no longer the Indians' starting second baseman. Rookie Asdrubal Cabrera and recently acquired utilityman Chris Gomez will share time there the rest of the way.
