Bridgestone notebook: Verplank doing so well, he can't make HOF

Scott Verplank would love to be at Fawcett Stadium tonight. However, the PGA Tour veteran is chasing the $1.35 million first prize this weekend at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational.

Verplank finds himself tied for third with Tiger Woods and Kenny Perry heading into today's third round at Firestone Country Club. His friend and fellow Oklahoma State alum Thurman Thomas is being inducted tonight into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
