OBITUARY: Jack D. Gibbons

Jack D. Gibbons, age 75 of Harrisburg, passed away at 8:07 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at his residence in Harrisburg.

Jack was born on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1939, in Harrisburg, to the late Everett and Ann (Grousky) Gibbons. Jack was a Vietnam War Veteran with service in both the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Carrier Mills American Legion.

Jack is survived by a brother, James O. Gibbons and wife Peggy of Carrier Mills; brother, Jerry Gibbons, of Harrisburg; brother, Everett Gibbons, Jr. of Harrisburg; brother, Joseph Gibbons and wife Edna of Eldorado; sister Ramona Fitzgerald, Price Utah; sister Sharon Ricketts and husband Mike of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rodney Deuel will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
