James B. 'Jim' Deaton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James B. "Jim" Deaton, 62, of Carrier Mills, died 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2008.

He was born July 7, 1946, in Harrisburg to the late Joe and Mabel (Cain) Deaton.

He was an Army veteran and a coal miner working for Patriot Coal in Kentucky. He was a Christian.

He is survived by two sons, Brad Deaton of Carterville and Jason (Jill) Deaton of Carrier Mills; a sister, Donna Hutson of Galatia; and several grandchildren, Tiffany Deaton, Tyler Deaton, Nolen Deaton and little "Scooter" Deaton, due to arrive in December.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Dunn.

Graveside services with military honors by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American legions preceded burial 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Roger Marvel officiated. There was no visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, Carrier Mills.
