Earl 'Steve' Hancock

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Earl "Steve" Hancock, 86, a longtime resident of Hobart, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008.

He grew up in Harrisburg, graduated from Southern Illinois University and was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

Steve retired as an environmental control supervisor from U.S. Steel Gary Works with 32 years of service. He was a member of the Supervisors' Club, the Chorus of the Dunes and the Hoosier Grandpas.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie; two daughters, Pamela (Joseph) Duda of Hobart, Ind. and Pat (Scott) McLeod of Portage, Ind.; son, David B. (Jan) Hancock of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Meagan, Meredith and Steven McLeod, Jenny Duda and Anna and Steven Hancock; and sister, Marion (Lee) Koch of Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services were private. There will be no visitation. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Ind. 46209. Burns Funeral Home in Hobart in charge of arrangements.
