Betty Jean Randolph

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty Jean Randolph, 74, of Harrisburg, went home to be with the Lord at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1934, in Rudement to the late James Thomas and Della (Hale) Gibbs.

Betty was a retired certified nurse assistant at Harrisburg Medical Center and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Lindle) Pickering of Sparta and Ronica (Don) Smith of Harrisburg; lifelong best friend, Lacresia Parkinson of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashley) Pickering of Sparta, Desirea (Lance) Choate of Harrisburg and Amanda and Jessica Randolph of Ozark; two great-grandchildren, Delaney and Presley Choate of Harrisburg; sister, Hazel Gulledge of Lawrenceville; sister-in-law, Thelma Gibbs; and numerous nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Randolph; grandson, Dustin Pickering; sisters, Virginia Gibbs and Lola Ewell; and a brother, Gilbert Gibbs.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Darrell Ford officiated. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
