OBITUARY: Lyman Greer

Lyman Greer, 88 of Carmi and formerly of Norris City passed away at 8:34 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

He was born in Overland, Mo., the son of Lyman and Laura Madeline (Ryder) Greer. Lyman was a World War II Navy veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. He taught math at Norris City-Omaha-Enfield High School and was a Baptist minister.

Lyman is survived by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Greer of Carbondale, along with numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles E. Greer.

Graveside services for Lyman Greer, of Carmi and formerly of Norris City, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Kingdom Cemetery near Carmi with Joe Skaggs officiating. Military Rites will be given by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
