George William Thomas

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[George William Thomas, 88, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, Wis., on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008.

George was born in Carrier Mills on Sept. 19, 1919 to the late William and Mary (nee McCutcheon) Thomas. He has lived in Racine since 1949.

George faithfully served our country with the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division in Europe during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge. On Jan. 4, 1941, in Charleston, Mo., he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Imogene B. Lyle, who preceded him in death on May 26, 1996.

Prior to retirement, George was employed as a furnace installer and repair specialist with Service Oil and Franksville Oil. Years ago, he attended Immanuel Baptist Church. George was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, liked reading and watching boxing. Above all, he enjoyed being at home in the surroundings of his entire family.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Dean Creuziger; grandchildren, Scott, David and Gregg (Peggy) Creuziger; and Amy (Ralph Jr.) Slaasted, great-grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Creuziger and Danielle, Caitlyn and Joshua Slaasted, all of Racine, Wis.; brothers, John Thomas of Harrisburg, Norman (Frances) Thomas of Imperial, Calif. and Donald (Beverly) Thomas of Harrisburg; sister, Virginia Kingston of Harrisburg; and many special nieces, nephews and other relatives too numerous to mention by name.

In respecting George's wishes, private graveside services will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park of Racine, Wis.
