Bernard L. 'Papa' Patterson
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Bernard L. "Papa" Patterson, a resident of Warren, Mich., since 1960, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, in St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital Macomb Center, Warren, Mich.
He was born July 16, 1930, in Harrisburg.
Mr. Patterson was employed as a warehouseman for Peninsular Steel of Warren from 1960 until its closing in the 1980s. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
He was a member of A.F. and A.M. No. 522 Roseville Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, Moslem Shriner, VFW No. 2358 Neil Reid Post, American Legion in Harrisburg and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Patterson; children, Sharon (Tom) Goodin, Gina (Jerry) Klandrud, Kathy Nettle, Peter (Brandi) Schaubroeck, Raeann McGehee and Carmen (Erick) Waites; brother, Audie (Bonnie) Patterson Jr.; daughter-in-law, Anna Patterson; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sons, Daniel Smith, Robert Brown and George Schaubroeck; brother, Howard Dean Patterson; sisters, Lucille Patterson and Blanche Ledbetter; his parents, Aud and Ruth Patterson; and a stepfather, Dan Minton.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot Ave., Roseville, Mich., with the Rev. Steven Thrasher officiating. Visitation was 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, with a 7 p.m. A.F. and A.M. Lodge No. 522 service.
