Marilyn Jean Mattingly
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Marilyn Jean Mattingly, 69, of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Marilyn was born on May 25, 1939, in Harrisburg, to James and Velma "Babe" (Summers) Gwaltney. She married Darrel Mattingly on Oct. 12, 1956, and he survives in Harrisburg.
She retired from Harrisburg Medical Center after 20 years where she worked in the admissions department. She also ran the Garden Patch Restaurant for 15 years. She was a member of Honeycomb Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and youth director. She was also a member of the Marla Lane Country Gospel Singers.
Survivors include her husband, Darrel of Harrisburg, two sons, Gary Mattingly and Eric Mattingly both of Harrisburg; her mother, Babe Ostercamp of Harrisburg; sister, Marla Lane and husband Roger of Elizabethtown; brother, Jim Gwaltney and wife Brenda of Cave-in-Rock; two grandchildren, Bryan Lee Mattingly of Harrisburg and Jenna Mattingly of Harrisburg; and one great-grandchild, Myles Lee Mattingly.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Gwaltney.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harold Miller will officiate; burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery at Eldorado. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
