Earl Eugene 'Gene' Horton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Earl Eugene "Gene" Horton, 83, of 2065 Willow Grove Road, Harrisburg, died 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at the funeral home.

He was born on March 8, 1925, in Eldorado to the late John and Bertha (Keasler) Horton. He married Patricia Humbracht on Nov. 15, 1963, in Elgin, and she survives.

Gene loved his family and gardening; he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Horton of Harrisburg; four sons, Clark (Patty) Horton, Johnny (Rhonda) Horton and Rodney (Sherry) Horton, all of Harrisburg, and Jackie (Jennifer) Horton of Mt. Carmel; a sister, Dorothy Shear of Eldorado; a brother, Bob (Sue) Horton of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Humbracht of Harrisburg and Gloria Horton of Mt. Carmel; a brother-in-law, Butch (Joyce) Humbracht of Lilly Lake; 15 grandchildren, Amanda (Shane) Stovall, Aaron Horton, Mike (Jaida) Stokich, Mark Stokich, Kendra Hartley, Bridgett Horton, Keri Horton, Christopher (Chantel) Horton, Heather Horton, Elizabeth "Libby" Horton, Daniel Dydo, Stacy Horton, Brittany Horton, Ashley Horton and Daniel Holbrook; six great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jane Horton (his little angel), Keaton "George" Stokich, Braxton Fann, Tyler Hartley, Briley Stovall and Kiley Stovall.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Horton; and three sisters, Isabelle "Toody" Pease, Lucille Reinwick and Bessie Lorene Horton.
