James 'Henry' Mangus Jr. of Cave-in-Rock
CAVE-IN-ROCK - James "Henry" Mangus Jr., 56, passed away June 8, 2017.
He was born Aug. 3, 1960, in Hardin County Hospital.
James served as a firefighter on the Reidland Farley Fire Department in Paducah and for Cave-In-Rock Fire & Rescue.
He was a simple man who loved helping others, made sure to always put them first and cherished the little things in life.
James lived in Indianapolis for 25 years before moving to Cave-In-Rock, where he enjoyed the country life and his job driving the big truck at Hastie's.
He had a love for racing and hockey, but most importantly his wife and kids. The four of them could always be found together enjoying life and hanging with their pets.
James never missed a moment to hang with his favorite "Lil' Man" Lincoln and joke about the blue cubbies.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Evelyn; son, Anthony "Homer;" daughter, Jessica "Sis;" mother, Velta Beavers; three brothers, Paul "Pappy" (Diana) Mangus, Johnny (Margie) Mangus and Bob Smith; three sisters, Paulette Sanders, Donna Carter and Velta Mae (Chuck) King; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Mangus Sr.; sister, Verna Smith; aunt, Nadie Lane; and cousin, Chuck Lane.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday), June 13, in Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-In-Rock with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at the funeral home.
